Performance
Most new K5 sedans in our Kings Kia inventory have inline four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engines paired with automatic eight-speed transmissions and front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Basic configurations put out 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Each K5 sedan also has an estimated EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway. Consumers gain power when choosing a K5 GT, which comes standard with a turbocharged 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The motors pair with an automatic eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to achieve 290 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Engine upgrades enable the sedan to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Yet, the enhanced drivetrain delivers a respectable EPA-estimated fuel-efficient rating of 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
Design
A downward-sloped hood combines an aerodynamic profile and a trunk lid spoiler to maximize fuel efficiency. The front ends of our Dayton sedans boast mesh grilles framed by angular three-dimensional architecture and lightning bolt-like lighting to create a strikingly aggressive appearance. In the rear, larger light fixtures boast angular styling that meshes with more three-dimensional body features and flush quad tailpipes.
The basic LXS five-passenger interiors are upholstered in fabric. Stepping up to the GT-Line level combines synthetic leather/fabric upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Drivers gain a power-adjustable seat, but both front seats have heating elements. GT models gain sporty style elements inside and out. Elite EX sedans come with synthetic leather-upholstered interiors, adding ventilation to the front seats. An electronically powered panoramic sunroof enhances views.
Technology
The LXS-level K5 sedans on display allow Mason drivers to unlock the doors without a key when standing near the vehicle. The rear trunk lids are also electronically powered. The remote engine start features come in handy during cold winters in Montgomery. An automatic climate control system ensures the journey remains comfortable year-round by regulating the temperature in two zones.
Upgraded infotainment systems gain standard 12.3-inch touchscreens that enable wireless smartphone integration. They also have navigation software and a six-speaker stereo. Bluetooth connectivity allows Loveland drivers to use their phones hands-free. Four USB ports are installed throughout the interior to keep mobile devices charged. However, front-seat occupants gain the convenience of a wireless device charging pad.
Advancing the trim level ladder adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel for drivers to better monitor the sedan's performance and see the active safety features. A 360-degree live-view camera system provides a bird's eye view. Infotainment systems also get premium Bose stereos with 12 speakers for concert-quality sound.
The Kia brand equips all K5 sedans with an array of safety features that help minimize the risk of collision in the vehicle's front, side, or rear.
